Comments:
I bought the UST version of these tires and I really like them. I have used them in several conditions, and over different types of terrain. I've used them in wet dirt/road and had no issues with traction. They were reasonably good at losing mud/dirt, of course not the best I'm sure. They didn't cake up as easily as the Racing Ralphs, and lost what did stick much quicker. The center ridge is extremely low rolling resistance, and on road/hard pack is as smooth as can be for a mountain bike tire. Although the UST version are quite a bit heavier than the tubed version, the feel and confidence gained is substantial. My only gripe is there is no UST version larger than 2.1. I would love to have a 2.25 or 2.3 up front, but the 2.1 does do the job, and I have had no issues. The real width seems on par to the 2.25 Racing Ralph tires, so maybe they run slightly larger than the advertised 2.1.
